“Everything I know most surely about morality and the obligations of men, I owe to football.”  Albert Camus

It´s said that football is more than just a sport, and at ACAKORO Football this is definitely true. We strive to use the power of football to encourage a positive attitude towards life, something of which there is a lack of in the circumstances. How we approach Football at ACAKORO:

  • In football you have to follow rules – as in life!

  • In football you win or lose – but you never give up!

  • In football you have to work co-operatively as a team – that´s how you achieve your goals!

  • In football you need to respect your opponent, the referee, your team mates and yourself!

  • In football you always have to give your best – and we believe there´s nobody who fails in life if he always gives his best!

  • In football you have to play fair – a good woman/man is always acting fair!

  • In football you need self-esteem, without self-esteem you will not reach anywhere.

  • In football you have to overcome hard times, and there is always a next chance!

“Football has the power to build bridges between people regardless of their ethnicity, religion, gender and economic background. It creates a positive life attitude among children and teaches many values which can be used in life in general. ACAKORO Football is a perfect role model for how the power of football can be used to help those who need our support due to the circumstances they were born in.”

“ACAKORO has taken a social approach to football making it a role model in showing how the sport, if well harnessed has the power to change lives. Besides training numerous slum children on a daily basis, ACAKORO, further, continues to ensure that the children are well taken care of by providing essential basic needs that include school fees, education, nutrition, medical care and transport, key in ensuring the wholesome development of the players.”

“I see the ACAKORO project as a beacon in one of the most dangerous areas of Nairobi and recognize that the level of empathy, self-confidence, co-operational spirit, respect and positive life attitude among the ACAKORO children is clear above average.”

“We have been particularly impressed by the virtues of this project. First, keeping the children, importantly both boys and girls, off the street, second, providing them with a regular and attractive physical exercise, third, developing team spirit and last but not least, providing them with an opportunity to professionally develop this game’s skills.”

“ACAKORO is an amazing project for socially disadvantaged kids! What is happening there in the midst of one of the most terrible slum areas in Kenya inspires the whole Keynan football fraternity. The impact football makes on the lives of these children is so important! To me that’s what football is all about, supporting character development and bringing a social change to the lives of kids!”

“ACAKORO has a wonderful story to tell. It’s about resilience and going against the odds to accomplish something great! Seeing what the ACAKORO children are capable of despite their circumstances is amazing. Because of the ACAKORO project these kids have an incredibly positive perspective of the world. I think that they can teach adults a thing or two about how to view life.”

“Taking into account all of ACAKORO’s activities, we can confirm that the project contributes greatly to improving living conditions and realize sustainable changes in one of the poorest and most disadvantaged areas in Kenya. We therefore believe that ACAKORO is a project highly worthy of support!”
AMB. Dr. Amina Mohamed

“ACAKORO is an impressive football academy which has been able to accomplish so much! I really celebrate the fact that ACAKORO takes care of the education of all its children, pays their school fees and provides school uniforms for them. This wholistic approach is the key in transforming the destinies of the children and youth who go through the academy and unlocks the multiplier effect that their individual paths will have on the community they hail from.”
