“I learned all about life, with a ball at my feet.”  Ronaldhino

It´s said that football is more than just a sport, and at ACAKORO Football this is definitely true. We strive to use the power of football to encourage a positive attitude towards life, something of which there is a lack of in the circumstances. How we approach Football at ACAKORO:

  • In football you have to follow rules – as in life!

  • In football you win or lose – but you never give up!

  • In football you have to work co-operatively as a team – that´s how you achieve your goals!

  • In football you need to respect your opponent, the referee, your team mates and yourself!

  • In football you always have to give your best – and we believe there´s nobody who fails in life if he always gives his best!

  • In football you have to play fair – a good woman/man is always acting fair!

  • In football you need self-esteem, without self-esteem you will not reach anywhere.

  • In football you have to overcome hard times, and there is always a next chance!

“Football has the power to build bridges between people regardless of their ethnicity, religion, gender and economic background. It creates a positive life attitude among children and teaches many values which can be used in life in general. ACAKORO Football is a perfect role model for how the power of football can be used to help those who need our support due to the circumstances they were born in.”

“Absolutely no doubt that this football academy for children and young people from one of the biggest and most dangerous slums in the world is in all respects an eligible project, which also meets the requirements of a structure sustainability.”

“ACAKORO has taken a social approach to football making it a role model in showing how the sport, if well harnessed has the power to change lives. Besides training numerous slum children on a daily basis, ACAKORO, further, continues to ensure that the children are well taken care of by providing essential basic needs that include school fees, education, nutrition, medical care and transport, key in ensuring the wholesome development of the players.”

“ACAKORO is an inspiring project in one of the most dangerous urban informal settlements of Kenya and is working towards promoting peace, gender equality, democratic values and human rights, among others.”

“I see the ACAKORO project as a beacon in one of the most dangerous areas of Nairobi and recognize that the level of empathy, self-confidence, co-operational spirit, respect and positive life attitude among the ACAKORO children is clear above average.”
Mirja Sachs

“We have been particularly impressed by the virtues of this project. First, keeping the children, importantly both boys and girls, off the street, second, providing them with a regular and attractive physical exercise, third, developing team spirit and last but not least, providing them with an opportunity to professionally develop this game’s skills.”
